Sober Companion in Los Angeles

A private recovery coach — often called a sober companion — working one to one with your family in Los Angeles. Discreet, private pay, and arranged in days rather than weeks.

Los Angeles runs on the car and on the calendar. Someone in early recovery is expected to drive to the meeting, drive to the set, drive to the dinner, and be pleasant at all of them. The isolation of a two-hour commute is its own risk, and a coach who can take the wheel removes a decision that would otherwise get made badly at nine at night.

How quickly we can be there

We work across Los Angeles, and we move quickly. Tell us what is happening and we will tell you, on that first call, exactly when someone can be with you.

Same day, in most cases.

What takes the time is the match. A local agency sends whoever happens to be free that week. We send the person whose background actually fits — someone who has worked with a surgeon, or a touring musician, or a nineteen-year-old who does not want to be helped.

Where we work in Los Angeles

We support families in Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Santa Monica, Hollywood Hills, Calabasas, Manhattan Beach and Studio City, and anywhere else nearby that we are asked to go.

Coaching happens where the person actually lives: at home, at work, on a flight, at a wedding, or in the first difficult week after a program discharges them. The work is the daily texture of a life, not an appointment.

What a recovery coach actually does

A coach builds structure: routines, sleep, meals, meetings, exercise, and the plan for the moment it gets hard. They are an accountability partner and a trusted mentor, and an extra set of trained eyes in the client’s daily environment.

They also notice things early. A coach who is present daily sees the change in pattern that precedes a relapse, and communicates it to the client’s own treatment team before it escalates.

Engagements scale: hourly sessions, full days, live-in support, travel companionship, or entirely virtual — scaling back as independence grows.

Coaches hold recognized credentials, carry at least five years of personal sobriety, and are verified by us before they ever meet a client.

The first two weeks in Los Angeles

Relapse risk is not evenly spread. It peaks in the weeks immediately after structure is removed — after a program discharges someone, after a family stops watching, after the first ordinary Monday. That is the window a coach is for.

In practice the first fortnight is unglamorous. It is sleep, food, a route to a meeting that does not pass the wrong places, a phone that gets answered at two in the morning, and a plan for the first social event that was always going to be difficult.

It is also a city where a relapse can become a professional event. Discretion is not a luxury here; it is the condition on which many people will accept help at all.

We would rather be involved before a crisis than after one. If you are reading this because something already happened, call anyway — that is the more common way families reach us, and it is not too late.

What it costs

We are private pay and we do not bill insurance. Most families we work with in Los Angeles want a clear number before they commit, and we will give you one on the first call.

Cost depends on intensity — hourly coaching, full days, or twenty-four-hour live-in support — and on whether travel is involved. There is no charge for the initial conversation.

Common questions

How fast can someone be with us? Same day, in most cases.

How do you choose the coach? We match on fit — background, temperament, and what the client actually needs. The right person matters more than the nearest one.

Is this confidential? Yes. Nothing is billed to insurance, no diagnosis is recorded by us, and coaches sign confidentiality agreements before they are assigned.

Do you provide treatment? No. Coaching is non-clinical peer support. Where clinical care is needed we coordinate with the client’s own treatment team, or help the family find one.

Can a coach travel with the client? Yes — flights, work trips, weddings and funerals are among the most common reasons families call us.
